Testing Preliminary Hypotheses
After hearing of the sightings of an unknown aerial object near southern Illinois on the morning of January 5, 2000, NIDS staff members have conducted a search for a prosaic answer. In so doing, several experts have been contacted and presented with the information. The following two possibilities were explored (it should be noted that the case continues to be investigated and that other hypotheses are also under consideration):

1. The B-2 Hypothesis

3. Preliminary Physics Analysis

4. Astronomical Hypothesis
